Junjie Yin
AI for Power Systems · PhD Researcher at UTK / CURENT · 2026 Research Intern @ Microsoft
Hi! I’m Junjie (John) Yin (how to say my name), a PhD researcher in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), where I have studied since August 2023 under Prof. Fangxing “Fran” Li. I am a Graduate Research Assistant at the CURENT engineering research center and a maintainer of the Enliten lab website.
My work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and electric power systems — developing data-driven and large-language-model methods for grid resilience, stability, and operations, grounded in hands-on power-system engineering. In summer 2026 I am a Research Intern at Microsoft (Redmond, WA), working on AI/ML for electricity-infrastructure planning.
Research Interests
- AI & machine learning for power — AI for power systems, large language models, data-driven control
- Resilience & extreme events — grid resilience, extreme-event modeling, smart grid
- Stability & inverter-based resources — power-system stability, grid-connected converters
- Markets & energy-system optimization — electricity markets, integrated energy systems, Lyapunov optimization
I am open to 2026–2027 opportunities in AI-for-power-systems research and power-system engineering across industry, hyperscalers, and national labs. If my background fits your team or project, please feel free to reach out — you can also browse my publications, projects, and CV.
